A bit about Sonya...
A Multi-Talented Recording Artist
Born to move between worlds.
Sonya is an Australian recording artist whose sound lives in the space where pop, R&B, and cultural identity meet. Born and raised in Melbourne to Persian parents, her music has always carried two histories at once — the contemporary western pop she grew up immersed in, and the rich melodic heritage of her Persian roots. The result is something distinctive: an "east meets west" sound built on powerful vocal hooks, sleek production, and an unmistakable presence.
From Melbourne to the World
Sonya's career has taken her from local stages to international ones. In Los Angeles, she's performed at two of the city's most iconic music venues — the House of Blues and The Viper Room — and toured Australia as a supporting act for global superstar Akon. Her music has also reached the screen, featured in HBO series and American film and television productions.
Industry Collaborations
Sonya is signed to BMI Los Angeles and has worked closely with Universal Music Australia throughout her career. Her sound has been shaped by some of the industry's most respected names, including producer Mario Marchetti (Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez), Stylaz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa), and Audius Mtawarira (Delta Goodrem, Flo Rida) of Universal Music Australia — collaborations that have helped refine her sound into something both globally competitive and deeply personal.
A Breakout Moment
Released through her LA-based record label, Sonya's recent singles mark a new chapter in her artistry. Her breakout single, Bedune To, fuses English and Persian lyrics into one seamless pop record — and the response was immediate, with 500,000 streams in its first week alone, reaching audiences across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
What's Next
With a growing catalogue, international industry relationships, and a sound that continues to evolve, Sonya is just getting started. New music, new visuals, and new stages are on the way — stay tuned.
